The Fight for 15 began with fast food workers in New York City demanding their rights to a living wage of $15 and a union. The movement quickly spread across the United States and the world, and now includes all types of low-wage earners, from retail workers to home health aides, advocating for their rights at work. Supporters of the movement have helped to secure a $15 minimum wage in the states of New York and California, as well as numerous U.S. cities and the District of Colombia. In July, the Democratic National Committee announced that a $15 minimum wage is now officially part of the party's platform.
